Evergreen Park Diamondback pitcher Ed Sochacki and his wife Michelle arrived at Good Samaritan Hospital at 6:45pm this evening for the scheduled arrival of their first child.

After this afternoon’s Diamondback sweep against the DuPage Irish, the Sochacki’s packed their bags, computer and the TomJalana.com film crew and followed the Irish back to DuPage County.

Prior to checking into their private room at the hospital’s birthing center, Michelle and Ed stopped south of the Border for a little Taco Bell action. The deals were just as advertised – .79, .89 and .99 cent tacos, making for a perfect post-game and pre-labor meal. Michelle opted for a single Crunchy Wrap Chicken Supreme, while Ed opted for the same, but with steak, and an additional 4 Taco Supremes.

The uneventful drive to the hospital saw little traffic, so the couple ended up arriving 45 minutes early. To kill time, they stopped of at Games Workshop, but unfortunately, the store closed at 6pm and they were forced to just check in early.

Upon arrival, Michelle was promptly checked in and they entered their room. At initial glance, the room is about the size of a single-room apartment, complete with bathroom, pull out bed (for Ed), a television, and a DVD/CD player. As an added bonus, the room comes complete with cable, so the couple will be watching the season premiers of Kendra, Denise Richards: It’s complicated, and The Next Food Network Star (for photos, click here).

According to the nurse attendant (a lovely woman named Teri), nothing eventful should be happening over the next few hours other than the hospital’s cafeteria closing at 3am. However, if there is news, you can bet your bag of water we here at TomJalana.com will be the first to break it!
